Feast of Justice Receives Financial Aid

With significant courtroom success as a trial lawyer, Andrew Alston represents clients in criminal, personal injury, and family law cases. Lawyer Andrew Alston was recently inducted into the Frankford-Northeast Philadelphia Rotary Club.

On May 20, 2020, the Frankford-Northeast Philadelphia Rotary Club and the Gundaker Foundation presented two checks that totaled $2,195 to Feast of Justice. Feast of Justice is a nonprofit organization that serves families, particularly those that experience food insecurity in Northeast Philadelphia, through diverse programs that transform and empower their lives. The financial aid will be used for the refrigeration expense of the food the organization distributes to beneficiaries. During this time of crisis, between 285 and 1,500 families have benefited from meals provided by Feast of Justice.

The Frankford-Northeast Philadelphia Rotary Club and the Gundaker Foundation have expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to partner with Feast of Justice to advance its efforts in helping families in need.

Mazzoni Center Protects LGBTQ People from Workplace Harassment

An honors graduate of Gwynedd Mercy University with a bachelor of science in chemistry with a minor in biology, lawyer Andrew Alston received a JD from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University. Committed to serving the unique legal needs of people who are LGBTQ, lawyer Andrew Alston maintains membership in the Mazzoni Center's Cooperating Attorney Network.

The only program in Pennsylvania to specifically offer low and no-cost representation to low-income LGBTQ individuals, the Mazzoni Center's legal services department also provides education and training for members of the public on anti-discrimination laws. LGBTQ employees are more likely to experience discrimination or harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

Workplace harassment is a type of discrimination that involves unwanted, offensive conduct that contributes to a professional environment that feels intimidating or hostile. Conduct is only deemed harassment when there is a pattern of incidents over time. Incidents might include repeated homophobic jokes or a lewd object or picture in the office.
